The Solar Array and the Edmonds Community Solar Cooperative:
The 4.2 kW array was installed in September, funded by a group of local citizens, organized as a Cooperative. The solar panels and inverter were all manufactured in Washington State, fulfilling one of the goals of the Co-Op to support employment here in Washington.
Membership in the Edmonds Community Solar Co-Op is open to all Snohomish PUD customers, not only those of us in Edmonds! You can find out more by contacting us at SustainableEdmonds@gmail.com, or signing up at http://www.tangerinepower.com/edmonds

We need a committee to lobby cities for laws to reduce the street lighting on side streets. We need to promote the idea (the truth) that lighting does not make us more safe.
Can anyone tell me how much your city spends on electricity for street lighting?
What fights crime is burglar alarms that use lower voltage and less watts. Also having enough cops to quickly get to the scene of the crime and so they have a back up.
Outside security lighting should be outlaw and electric signage highly taxed. We need the cops giving tickets for such wasting of electricity.
PUD is spending $1.7 million studying the feasibility of a 15-megawatt dam on the Skykomish River and has purchased strategic parcels of land along the Skykomish for this project. Proposed dam cost estimates are $150 million to $170 million! Building new dams makes no sense when we are spending billions to remove existing dams (Elwha Dams removal = $325 million alone).
By comparison, PUD saved 9 megawatts of power through conservation efforts last year at nearly no cost to ratepayers. We can continue reliable and affordable electricity only if we plan for the future and use resources wisely. By enhancing proven conservation and renewable energy generation efforts we save both ratepayer money and natural resources.
